Day 2

Because this is my blog and I can do however many a day I want.
(And sorry people who read my blog in reader and now have like 50 unread blog posts. I do apologize)

The meaning behind your blog name.

Well, my blog name is "Kyle and Britt Hanson".
Probably because those are our names.
We like being the Hanson family.
And this blog is about Kyle and I.
...
Any questions?

Day 1

Recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself.

Me at the BYU game last Saturday. (Sorry I cut you out of the picture, Sarah.)

1) I'm terrified of deep water (deep meaning more than like, a foot) and tornadoes.

2) I LOVE to read. I'm such a book worm. If there's something with print on it anywhere near me, I can't not pick it up and start reading.
3) I married my singles ward home teacher and fhe brother. (and he's 15 inches taller than me). AND he's my best friend.
4) I love almost any dish that includes pasta, tomato sauce and/or chicken.

5) I'm an avid Harry Potter fan. I love anything and everything Harry Potter.(So excited for the night of November 18th!)

6) I highly dislike Halloween - except the candy part of it.

7) My hair's been so many different lengths, the shortest being an a-line and the longest being down to my waist. I don't have a favorite length.

8) I love the smells of summer; rain, freshly cut grass, faint smell of chlorine, sunscreen, gasoline, and BBQ's.

9) I'm a Family Life and Human Development major, and I LOVE it. My major is perfect for me, and I would never ever change it.

10) Currently I have "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me" from The Rocky Horror Glee show stuck in my head.

11) Speaking of which, I love Glee.

12) Kyle and I quote the movie Anchorman practically everyday.

13) I'm learning to bake, and I love it.

14) If Kyle's home I can sleep with the bedroom door closed, if he's not home, the door has to be all the way open. (So I can see if anyone creepy comes into my house.)

15) I didn't realize I was such a picky person (especially a picky eater) until I got married. Funny how being married makes you realize so many things about yourself.

And a couple extra, just because I can...
16) I love living in Utah.
17) I love being a wife, a daughter (in-law), an aunt, and a sister (in-law).
(My family's cuter than your family.)
18) I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
(I know who I am, I know God's plan, I'll follow Him in faith. I believe in the Savior Jesus Christ, I'll honor His name. I'll do what is right, I'll follow His light. His truth I will proclaim.)

Yesterday I was able to register for my last semester of college classes.
Hallelujah - I'm going to graduate!
(If I pass Physics this semester.... ) (Just kidding, I will! But.. probably barely...)

Anyway.
I'm taking my capstone course (Advanced Issues in Human Development), Adult Development and Aging, Language Development, Joseph Smith and the Restoration, and Intro to Food Sciences (fills the one credit hour I needed, haha). It should be a good semester!

Days 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 - FINISHED!

Day 25 - A song that makes you laugh

"It Makes Me Ill" - NSYNC

You know why, Ayisha.

Day 26 - A song that you can play on an instrument

Red River Valley, on the guitar.
It was the first song I ever learned how to play on the guitar.

Day 27 - A song that you wish you could play

The whole reason I learned to play the guitar was so that one day I could play "Country Roads" by John Denver. Did I ever learn? No.

Day 28 - A song that makes you feel guilty

Probably all those hip-hop songs I listen to.
No videos for this one.

Day 29 - A song from your childhood

Basically anything by ABBA or Cat Stevens, or any of the music by Janice Kapp Perry (the old school stuff) or music from "My Turn on Earth" - specifically "Angel Lullaby".

One other one is called "When A Knight Won His Spurs." My mom sang it when she was in school in England, and it's one of my favorite lullabies from when I was little.

Day 30 - Your favorite song at this time last year

Hmmm, that's kind of hard.
At this time last year.... I'm not sure.
Probably some lovey dovey song.

Game Day

Today we played at home against Wyoming.
We won, thankfully.
(Although Wyoming's last drive of the game was terrifying to watch...)

Sarah, Ginger, and I hung out, as usual, and took pictures.
And, we were in the lucky section that got free stuff.
We got a Y sticker, a visor, and a sports backpack thing.

Craft Night!

Last night Ginger and I had a craft night.
We were feeling... Well, crafty!

After a Walmart and Roberts run, we were ready.

Here's what I made...

A "Y" (painted)

An "H" for Hanson! (Modge podged)

Ginger made a BYU similar to my Y.
I also started making a menu board for our kitchen, but it's not finished yet.

We also painted our toenails bright colors, and watched the angsty movie, Remember Me. In case you didn't know, it's a movie that came out earlier this year, with Robert Pattinson (yes, "Edward") and Emilie de Ravin (LOST's Claire). It's pretty good, but has a shocking ending that might leave your world a litle shattered. RP managed to act well, and even managed to not look ugly in some scenes. He was a little more personable and likable ... However, he still had what we called "awkward Edward moments". But it's was still pretty good.

And here's proof that I made my own bread, as well as a picture of our pumpkin we carved on Wednesday!

APRIL 2011

I applied for GRADUATION yesterday.

Come faster, April 21 and 22.

Birthdays, Pumpkins, and Boots - oh my!

Wednesday was my mom's birthday. She came over to our apartment with my little sister for dinner! Kyle and I made a yummy dinner of chicken cordon bleu, funeral potatoes, and peas. We also had my homemade bread, and my  mom's homemade jam, yum! For dessert I made my mom a carrot cake. (Wow! I sound so domestic!)

We also carved pumpkins. My mom carved a little squat pumpkin with a classic toothy grin. Charity wanted to carve an hour on her white "ghost" pumpkin - which means Kyle ended up doing most of the work. I carved a regular orange pumpkin with two ghost shapes. (I'll post a picture when I get home...)

Also, I've been wanting a new pair of brown boots. I bought my current pair of Ugg lookalikes  my freshman year. They're pretty trashed from wearing them through 3 Utah winters. I needed a new pair, and Kyle was going to get me some last Christmas, but I was picky and never found any I liked. So, when we went to the mall to get my mom's birthday present, we stopped by Forever Young Shoes... and I found a pair I liked and we got them! :) I'm very excited about them.

Sorry it's a bad picture. They're brown, leathery material.

and one last thing.... Macey's had some great coupons this week. And I'm just excited about it, so I wanted to share! (I really am turning into a housewife...)

Thoughts on Life

Monday night, I made bread. Legit, white bread. Not with a bread maker, with my hands. Baked in my oven. And it turned out so delicious!

Last night, Kyle and I bought our Harry Potter 7, part 1 tickets! November 19th, 12:01 am, Provo Towne Center. I can't wait! I love HP. We're going with Ginger, Sarah, and Caroline.

Also, today is my momma's birthday! I love my mom, she's the absolute best ever! :)

Happy Birthday, Momma!
I love you!

Go vote for me!

So it's my Tuesday night grave yard shift. I need to do something to pass the time (Don't worry Britt those graduate schools and independent study classes aren't going anywhere) so I wrote my audition to be a JazzBot blogger. Its pretty awesome. I mean who wouldn't want my mad writing skills and insane sports knowledge? So go read my blog and vote!

http://www.utahjazz360.com/kylelovesjazz/lets-get-this-season-started/

Anywho if I win I get to write blogs twice a week for utahjazz.com and supposedly they give you some free tickets and Jazz gear and if you get assigned you get to interview players. Basically that would be wicked awesome so you should help a brother out (I know I'm not black but I can play basketball like I am)! Thank you!

Life is good even though BYU football is bad. Basketball starts in two weeks so at least we will see some high scores from somebody cause the football team sure can't score!

So I'm thinking I'll apply to BYU, USU, UNLV, Purdue and maybe CSU. Any other suggestions?? I'd be a good marriage and family therapist right?? I think USU is my first choice but I really wish it wasn't in Logan. You know, its just a bit far from everything and kind of cold....

Well I think I'll be on to Netflix now. Only 4 more hours to go.

Oh hey.

Meet my bff's, Ginger and Sarah. (Sarah is the redhead, in case you were confused.)
I like them an awful lot.

We met in a really random roundabout way.
Sarah and I were part of the Waiting for a Missionary group on facebook. We had missionaries that left six weeks apart. We were friends on facebook for a while.
Then we hung out a few times.
We thought we would be good friends, but, oh, how life is busy.

Anyway, somehow, we decided to get all sport pass tickets together in 2009. And Kyle moved into Ginger's ward, which is Sarah's neighboring ward. And Ginger and Sarah were already bff.
And then over the course of the 09-10 school year, we hung out quite a bit.
(Three hour hang out sessions in the Terrace in the Wilk.)

And the rest, as they say is history.
Now we hang out at least once a week.
Pretty sure last week it was three times a week.

We're legit.
And I'm so lucky to have bff's like them.
(ps -we just had an entire non-sensical conversation on a wall post on Sarah's wall on fb. 34 comments. that's what spurred this quick post).

Baking

Now that it's nice and cool outside, all I want to do is bake.
Strange, isn't it? I'm not much of a cook at all, but baking makes me happy.

I made the best homemade carrot cake the other week - thanks to Shauna's amazing recipe! Delicious!

And I have some good recipes lined up that I want to try out....

White Bread
French Bread - thanks for posting, Maria!
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies - Kyle's mom's recipe
Rocky Road Chocolate Cake (in the crockpot!)

I'll let you know how they turn out!
(The problem is finding some time to make all these things...)

Memories

Last night I went to a bonfire with Sarah and Ginger.
I have many memories that involve campfires.
Girls camps, youth conferences, random bonfires up the canyon in the summer, fire pits in friends backyards.... etc.
So, I thought I'd post about a few of my most meorable ones from the last year or two.

These first few are from an MG outing, early last summer.
This campfire involved lots of singing girls camp songs, and rain.

Steph, Nikki, Em, Kellie, Me and Annika

Ann, Em, Nikki and Me

Kel, Kellie, Nikki, Em and Me
So much fun, I love those girls.

Last summer, we also had a bubbly fight! Now if you don't know what that is... It's when you all have bottles of Martinellis, count down, shake them up, and spray each other! Oh, so fun.

Me, Kyle, Sam, Garyn, and Allison
Sam, Garyn, Me, Allison, Kyle and Tyler - the crew!
Another bonfire that comes to mind, that I don't have any pictures of, is the one we had last February (2009)? (maybe) up at Dani's house, in her backyard. It was the Springville crew, me, Em, Ish, Dani... We just hung out around the campfire and Jeff (or Amber?) had their guitar and we were just singing songs, and chatting, and looking at the fire. Just a fun, relaxing time around a campfire.

And, the most recent campfire event, (other than last nights) is of course when Kyle and I were up in Yellowstone. I love my manly man.

Not Much

is new.

I go to work.
I go to class.
I go home.
I work on homework.

I talk to Kyle if he's home. (He works evenings/nights, mostly).

A couple of days ago I ordered a cute dress from Shade for only $7.19, and I got a tankini top for $14. Thank you, Shade, for going out of business. I appreciate buying cheap clothing.

Last night Kyle and I watched Taken. I forgot how awesome that movie is.

Tonight, I'm going to go to the Farmers Market with Ginger and Sarah. (I love them, my bff's for sure!)
And then Kyle and I will eat dinner.
And then go to the Temple. Yes! I love the Temple.

Kyle's best friend Bud got engaged last Friday night. We are so excited for him and Cami!

Last weekend, I went to Divine Comedy with Ginger, Sarah, Tyler, Sam and Jackson (Kyle was at work). It was so funny! Afterwards, we went back to their ward, and there was a Rockband Battle of the Bands. Pretty hilarious.
Saturday, I got to see my good friend Alecia, at her baby shower! Her little Milo is so darling! And doing so well. And.... Kyle and I hung out. And I saw Ayisha, Missy, Jordan, etc. And I'm sure we did some other stuff. Weekends are just nice to relax.

Fallishness! Its a word, you've just never heard it before

So I'm sitting at work and it's 1AM. I've been here for 10hrs and I still got 6hrs to go. I smell like smoke because earlier we took them to a sweat lodge and they went through some ceremony with a Cherokee Indian. I read a book outside because I didn't want to be stinky for the next 14 hrs I was at work. That didn't work out to well for me. Oh well the smoke on me is a lot better than what most of the kids smelled like afterwards....

Monday night one of the kids snuck into the office and left porn up on the computer. I had to be the one to use it next. Tonight I had to restrain one of the kids for the first time. Sometimes my job is stressful and then I remember how much I get paid and it doesn't help me feel any better! I must get in to graduate school. That's what I tell myself every day.

The Braves are out of the playoffs and Bobby Cox is retired. Sad. Bobby Cox isn't too far behind John Wooden on my best coaches of all time list. I love my Braves and I wish they wouldn't have had so many injuries this year. At least BYU won on Saturday. I still love to watch them even when they aren't very good. I think that makes me a true fan. I definitely like watching more when they win though. Preseason in the NBA is too long. I want Jazz games to watch!! I hate cold weather but at least I have the Jazz to keep me happy.

Oh and I have a beautiful wife who also makes me very happy! Yay I blogged. You should be so proud of me (that 30 songs in 30 days was way too much to ask of me). Now I'm going to Netflix. I'll probably watch Pawn Shop Stars from the history channel. I'm not sure why I like that show, but I think it is so funny. Its like antiques road show only with guns and cool stuff. Stay Classy!

Today

is a good day.

Kyle left for work at 6:45 am, but left me with a kiss and an "I love you."
I work up around 10:30. Sleeping in is glorious.
I played around on facebook, and read all the unread items in my google reader.
I folded laundry while listening to Colbie Caillat and Jack Johnson.
I made a butternut squash and pear soup.
I showered.
I got ready for the day.
Now I'm cleaning up a little more of our apartment.

Later on I'm going to my friend Alecia's baby shower.
Her baby boy Milo was born  a couple of weeks ago.
I"m excited to see her, the baby, and all the other friends that will be there.

And later on, Kyle and I can cuddle while watching baseball playoffs.

The weather is perfect.
I love Fall, I love my life.

Perfect Music

for my Fall mood.

When I Graduate

you want to know how I'm going to celebrate?

By going to the library and checking out a stack of books.
I can't wait to be able to read what I want, when I want, with no deadlines hanging over me.

Books, how I love you.

Feeling Better

Still ridiculously stuffed up, and I sound a bit like a man...
But I don't feel as blah as I did earlier.
So that is good news.

I forced myself to get up, and get ready, and go out to dinner with some of my girls tonight. (I only forced myself to get ready, not to actually go... I was so excited to see them!)
Lindsay, Nikki, Leanna, Steph, Natali, Annika, Kellie and myself met up at Los Hermanos for dinner during the priesthood session. We ate and chatted, as we always do. It was so good to see them, and catch up. I love those girls. They really truly are some of my best best friends. We missed all you that weren't there!

I think I"m going to put on some tunes, and clean up our apartment a little bit. It truly needs it. Dishes, laundry, school books, the usual are crowding altogether.

I can't wait for Kyle to get home from priesthood. He drove up to West Jordan to watch it with his brothers, and dad. I miss him. I have hardly seen him this week. I just love him, so much.

PS - BYU TV was playing The Work and the Glory movie today right after the afternoon session. I LOVE those books. The Steeds are pretty much my heroes. I bawl during all books, and the movie was no exception. I cried at least twice. ..... I won't get on my soapbox about them.... (They HAVE to be real, Gerald Lund is an apostle, he could have totally been inspired to write about a real family.... Right?!?? I"m seriously going to meet them in Heaven. Planning on it.)

I love Conference

I can't wait to get the November Ensign and study all the talks over again!

It's a bummer, because I'm sick. And being sick makes my mind wander, and my body want to sleep, so I probably haven't been paying as good attention and I should have.
I've also realized that ever since graduating from seminary, my knowledge of the names of the Quorom of the Twelve has gone down. I need to definitely work on that.

Being sick means I'm not going to get to go up to West Jordan tonight and spend time with family. I sure don't want to get that precious newborn sick, or anyone else for that matter!
I started feeling sick on Thursday night... I had a sore throat. I went to bed early, hoping to sleep if off. I woke up at least 5 times during the night, and woke up feeling pretty bad yesterday. I had a lot to do that day, so I made myself get up. By early afternoon I wasn't feeling too good at all. Sarah let me come crash at her house for a few hours, and gave me some drugs. I went home, and was in bed by 10. Still woke up a few times during the night.
Now. my sore throat is pretty much gone, but I'm horribly stuffed up/congested. And my head hurts a bit.

I was sick last October Conference too... Luckily I'm not that sick again.

Anyway, I love Conference. Elder Holland's talk had me teary eyed.

Welcoming...

Avery Ruby Hanson!
Our new niece was born on Tuesday, September 28th, at 3:13 pm.
She was 8 lbs, and 19 inches long.
She's got the cutest, chubbiest cheeks ever!

Kyle and I got to go visit her on Wednesday. We drove straight to the hospital, where we spent time with Nathan and Melanie (proud parents!) and of course, baby Avery. Then we went back to their house, and watched Liam and Whitney while Mel and Avery got discharged. We all ate dinner and spent time together.
Whitney loves her new sister already, she couldn't stop laughing and smiling as soon as Mel and Nathan brought her home. Liam wasn't quite as sure at first, but he warmed up, and would pat her on the head, and one of the first things he said was, "look at her little ears!" So cute.

Me and the baby :)

Look at those cute cheeks!

Proud uncle :)

Such a cutie.

Again, cheeks! I just want to pinch them...

Me and Liam, the proud older brother.

Whitney was so excited to see her new baby sister!
