It's that time again... When we make goals and resolutions to start the new year. Let's be honest, you can choose to set goals any time of year, but the beginning of a whole new year always feel fresh and crisp. I have some serious goals, and some less serious goals for this year. So here are mine, in no particular order.
First, have a baby. I don't say that in a flippant way, I really mean give birth to a human being. It's terrifying and miraculous all at the same time. Also, going along with that, I have a goal to not complain (too much) during my last 3 months of pregnancy. The last few days I have all of a sudden felt very overwhelmed with all the changes in my body (back aches! hip aches! knee joint aches! a huge stomach! insomnia!) so I will at least try to not complain about that, because I know it's all for a great reason and come April I will have a sweet baby of my own in my arms. WORTH IT.
Second, be an awesome mom. Ok, that one is kind of in a flippant way. But I really do want to try to be the best mom possible for my little one. I'm excited (and sometimes a little nervous) for all the things he is going to teach me, but I mostly CAN'T WAIT.
Third, finish the Book of Mormon, and then re-read the New Testament. I'd also like to integrate conference and devotional talks into my scripture study. I also want to get into the habit of doing my scripture study before getting on any social media. Also make sure to say my morning and evening personal prayers.
Fourth, I'd like to continue to eat more healthy. Kyle and I have been doing better on this goal (holiday eating aside...) and I'd like to continue. Kind of going along with this, I'd like to make a lot of freezer meals before the baby comes.
Fifth, once the baby comes I'd like to get into a work out schedule, and lose baby weight, plus some. I have a "goal weight" in mind, but would be happy just looking and feeling healthy, not matter what that weight ends up being.
Sixth, make time to spend time with Kyle, especially once baby comes. Whether this is at home date nights after baby is in bed, or getting a sitter occasionally, just make sure to keep that a priority, even with all the changes that will be happening.
And these last two are kind of less-serious goals, but two that I'd like to get done, all the same.
Seventh, print my "waiting" blog and my "single, college" blog. They've both been formatted and ready to go since we lived in Utah... But I've never wanted to fork over the money to actually get them printed and shipped. That needs to happen.
Eighth, scrapbook all my high school stuff before the baby comes. I REALLY need to get caught up and have that out of the way so I can focus on scrapping mine and Kyle's life, and baby's life when he comes. (I should probably also scrapbook college life, too, but that will also have to get in line. One thing at a time.)
Yes, 2014 is going to be a year of adjusting to the changes that come with having a baby, and hopefully getting into a really good rhythm of being a stay-at-home mom (... and possibly finding a part-time at home job. Only time will tell!).
2014, (I think) I'm ready for you.
