Yellowstone Photos!

[scroll down a couple posts for a detailed description]

Days12, 13, and 14

A Song From a Band I Hate
"Party in the USA" - Miley Cyrus
The only Miley song I can stand. Don't judge, it's catchy.
(the real music video won't let me embed)

A Song That Is a Guilty Pleasure
"My Humps" - Black Eyed Peas

So this song is no good, but it's catchy. And reminds of the days of Interior Design my junior year of high school when the skanky sophomores would turn on the radio during our work time, when the teacher was gone, and this would blast from 97.1 zht until the teacher came back and we turned it off. Also reminds me of my friend Kinnon sometimes. We got a kick out of singing it in his truck.

(I won't post the music video, or even the lyrics because, well, it's skanky.)

A Song No One Would Expect Me to Love
"Ohio is For Lovers" - Hawthorne Heights

There was a certain boy I dated my sophomore year of high school (cough*cesar*cough) who loved Hawthorne Heights, and I was convinced they were awful and sang terrible things. Then next year of high school, I had another friend (cough*collin*cough) who also like Hawthorne Heights, and I started to like them too.

In The Which

I discuss how today was my last first day of a fall semester.
When did I grow up?

My first class was good. I have it with my good friend Kristin, as well as a couple other girls we work with, and Leanna's sister Kimbra is in that class, and a few other people I recognized from other major classes.
Tomorrow I have my other three classes - so you'll be hearing about those then.
I graduate in April.
And then I am done with school. Forever.
Not schooling, not learning, but the actual going to school part.
Strange.

One thing I won't miss is buying books. Money down the drain, every year.

Here's to BYU, to the college experience, and pending graduation.

Also, my work BFF's Camrie and Megan are back.
It makes me happy.

YELLOWSTONE [pictures to be added soon - check back]

Oh, what fun! I had never been to Yellowstone, and I was quite excited.
And boy, did it live up to its hype.

Day 1 [Wednesday]
Kyle didn't get off work until 7 am, so he slept a little before we packed up. We left Provo around 11 am. We drove up to Nathan and Melanie's and got the audiobook version of "Mockingjay" downloaded onto our iPod. (We have about 3 hours left - like 7 chapters? You know what we'll be doing tonight... We'll be huddled around our iPod dock, ha.)
And then we drove and drove and drove.
And I even drove from Tremonton to Idaho Falls.

We got to West Yellowstone around 6, and grabbed some Subway.
Then kept driving.
We got to our campsite (Bridge Bay), set up, and went to sleep.

Day 2 [Thursday]
We woke a bit, a bit later than planned, and started our day.
We visited Old Faithful - which was just what I expected. (I've wanted to see Old Faithful since I was little!) And we walked around up to Daisy Geyser and back down. Beehive Geyser was my favorite though - so powerful and huge!
I got tired and hungry and grumpy...  but survived.
We went around to the paint pots that day too.
And we went on a little walk down to the lake.
I loved the lake - probably one of my most favorite things about Yellowstone.
Also, this was the night I had irrational fears about bears eating me and didn't sleep very well.

Day 3 [Friday]
We got up a bit late (again) and drove up to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We hiked Uncle Tom's Trail - and let me tell you, my calves are still sore from all those stairs! I made it though, and it was beautiful. We went all around to the other viewpoints on both the south and north rim. So pretty! I loved the waterfalls.

Day 4 [Saturday] MY 21ST BIRTHDAY :)
We woke up... But stayed in our little bed talking... And then it began to rain. So we got up, shoved all of our things in the car and drove out of Yellowstone. We drove down through a pretty heavy rainstorm to the Tetons. We picked out a campsite at Jenny Lake, and drove around. Down to Jackson Hole, for a couple quick walks around the lake (in between the rain showers). We ate and stuff, too.
Then a HUGE thunderstorm rolled in between 8-9 pm. And it rained, and thundered, and lighteninged (? - haha) and I was scared. I'm basically over my fear of thunder, but I apparently have an(other) irrational fear of lightening. (I was either going to get eaten by a bear, or struck by lightening on this trip). So I was scared, and cuddled up next to Kyle and made him hold me so I wasn't so scared. And tried to sleep.

Day 5 [Sunday] (today)
We woke up and were on the road by 7:45.
And we got home around 1:30.
And I napped.
And we showered.

Life is great.

And school starts tomorrow.
Last fall semester EVER.
I'm old.

TODAY

We spent about 3 hours at the DMV.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?

I'll tell you.

It means, that I, Brittanny Hope Hanson, now have a learners permit (again).
And that I have a road test in two weeks.
Which means, if I prove to the examiner dude that I can drive safely and correctly, I will be the proud carrier of a DRIVERS LICENSE.
At age 21.

I am the bomb.com, I know, you're jealous.

(You can't get your license in England until you're 21, my mom tells me. So, I'm just trying to follow the rules of the motherland, really.)

Also, I love my man.

Day 11 - A Song From My Favorite Band

Again, I have a lot of favorite bands in a lot of genres.

Dashboard Confessional has been my favorite band, consistently since 9th grade. LOVE their songs, their style, and the lead singer, Chris Carrabba. But then there are bands and singers such as Blink 182, Carrie Underwood, Paramore, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Weezer, Brad Paisley, The Rocket Summer, etc. How to chose just one favorite band?!

Alright. Let's get down to business. An all-time favorite song, from an all-time favorite band would have to be....

I'll go with, ok, two songs by Dashboard Confessional.

"The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" - their older and original sound.

Don't Wait - which is their "newer" sound.

I love Dashboard.
SO much.

Day 10 - A Song That Makes Me Fall Asleep

The whole album A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar by Dashboard Confessional makes me fall asleep, but not in a bad way. It's just so calming to me. This was the CD that I fell asleep to throughout high school.
At the same time, I love singing along to this whole CD too.

Seriously. One of my favorite albums. EVER.

I'm trying to decide what song to post.... Because I love them all....
Ok, this is probably one of the most calming ones on the CD.
Love.

Lucky

Sometimes I get down on myself, or think I could do much better.
And while this is true - I mean, I could be a much better wife, student, employee, friend, etc. I then think about how lucky and blessed I am in my life. And that alone makes me want to do better, to be better.

:: I have a wonderful husband, who loves me, and takes care of me, and wants the best for me, and listens to me, and comforts me. He is the very best thing, my number one blessing.

:: I have a great family who I love very much. I also have wonderful in-laws!

:: I belong to the true Church, and because of that, I am blessed with the scriptures, with prophets and leaders, and the ability to go to the Temple and receive more blessings.

:: I am a student at BYU, a fantastic school, and all four years of my schooling were paid for by pell grants, which means I have not had to go into debt for school.

:: Kyle and I both have jobs.

:: We have a roof over our heads, and all the things to go under it. Bed, TV, table/chairs, food, clothes, etc.

:: We have wonderful friends who love us, and we love them. We love getting together with any of them, and chatting.

:: We have a wonderful, reliable car.

:: We have a working computer.

:: I'm also proud of Kyle for being a BYU graduate.

These are just the tip of the iceburg, but counting my blessings can always make me think, and set goals to become more like Christ and our Father in Heaven. To become more receptive to the Spirit. Just to be and do better.

And this week, I'm going to work on it.

(Although, remember, we're going to YELLOWSTONE on Wednesday - so I can't exactly cook and clean while we're there. But don't worry, I will pick up where I left off when we come back.)

Day 9 - A Song That I Can Dance To

You see, there are two types of songs that I (or you) can dance to.
First, there are dance party songs. You know, the ones that make you just want to get up and MOVE.
Second, there are heart-wrenching, lyrical songs that just make me want to choreograph.

With that in mind... Here are favorites in each category.

Dance Party Songs
Get Low - Lil Jon
Lose Control - Missy Elliot
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
Shake - Ying Yang Twins

Lyrical Songs
Storm - Lifehouse
With or Without You - U2
They Weren't There - Missy Higgins
Wild Horses - Natasha Bedingfield

(And maybe I've choreographed, or danced to all four of these songs)

Day 8 - A Song That I Know All The Words To

Well, I love music, so I know the words to A LOT of songs.

So, this is going to be sort of hard, to pick just one. Which means there will most likely be a few again.

Some of my favorites to sing along to are:

You Found Me - The Fray
There Is - Box Car Racer
Curse of Curves - Cute is What We Aim For
Sugar, We're Going Down - Fall Out Boy
Paper Planes - M.I.A.
Ignition (Remix) - R. Kelly
That's What You Get - Paramore
Baby, Come On - +44

For your listening and viewing pleasure...

Also, you better believe I know all the words to almost all old school Nsync, BSB, and Britney Spears songs. As well as most Dashboard Songs.

Day 7 - A Song That Reminds Me of a Certain Event

I've been racking my brain to try and figure out what the heck song I can post for this day. I've been trying, and trying, and trying... So, I've finally thought of one, and I'm posting it. Maybe if I get a great idea, I'll post that instead but for now... Please be introduced to my BREAK-UP list. Each of these songs remind me of a specific break-up. I won't list names, just when the break-up occured.

Break-up #1, Sophomore Year, Lehi "Just Missed The Train" - Kelly Clarkson
Break-up #1, Sophomore Year, Lehi "Low" - Kelly Clarkson
Break-up #1, Sophomore Year, Lehi "Fall to Pieces" - Avril Lavigne
(there are a lot more songs for this first break-up, I was a dramatic, distressed 15 year-old girl)
Break-up #2, Junior Year, Mountain View "Cold As You" - Taylor Swift
Break-up #2, Junior/Senior Year, Mountain View "Ten Days" - Missy Higgins
Break-up #?, Sophomore Year, BYU "If I Were a Boy" - Beyonce
Break-up #?, Sophomore Year, BYU "White Horse" - Taylor Swift

There of course are others, but those are main ones that I can remember singing along to directly after a specific break-up. And don't worry, I won't post videos of all these songs. I'll just post "If I Were A Boy".

Some Days...

I think of great blog posts to write, and what great topics and updates to give... And then when I find the time to actually write a real blog post... All ideas are gone.

So - here's a small update on our lives:

- I'm working full-time in between semesters. Work is CRAZY busy right now, and a little bit stressful. But it's still a great job.

- Kyle is also working, but has to work 3 graveyards this week. Boo. We don't like those hours, because (1) we don't get to fall asleep together, and (2) Kyle doesn't get to spend time with the boys, which is why he wanted the job in the first place. Lame.

- Sarah is home in Indiana. Good for her, boring for me. Except we get to gchat while both at work. Good times.

- School starts in 11 days.

- We're going to Yellowstone in six days.

- I went to Bri's homecoming, and a single's ward, and my own ward all in one Sunday. Ayisha and I got to spend lots of time together, and I love her.

- Life is great.

Day 6 - A Song That Reminds You of Somewhere

These four songs will forever remind me of the Mountain View High School cafeteria/commons area.
School dances, anybody?

"Everytime We Touch" - Cascada
"Sandstorm" - Darude
"Since You've Been Gone" - Kelly Clarkson
"Here [in your arms]" - HelloGoodbye

Day 5 - A Song That Reminds Me of Someone

I'm going to go with "Out of My League" by Stephen Speaks.
This reminds me of my dear Kaylie Hancock now Sikahema.

We were sophomores in high school, and Lj had sent this song to Kaylie, and said it was the song that described her... Or made him think of her... Or something equally cute like that. Kaylie and I thought it was the cutest thing ever. We fell in love with the song (more so Kaylie, I'm sure) and one night we had a sleepover, and fell asleep to that song, each one of us with one ear bud from Kaylie's iPod in our ear.

That's exactly what it makes me think of.

... and maybe it secondly reminds me of Mr. Rich, my junior English teacher, because he played it for us in class in our music analysis unit, and analyzed it to death. But that's another story.

(sorry the quality is not awesome - it's the best youtube could do)

Day 4 - A Song That Makes You Sad

A song that makes me sad is definitely "Just a Dream" by Carrie Underwood.
Tears, every time.

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Cause I like music too

Day 1- my favorite song is Keep Fishing by Weezer but the best song ever is The Middle by J.E.W.
Day 2- my least favorite song "Love the Way You Lie" - Eminem ft Rihanna
Day 3- A song that makes me happy would be......Island in the Sun by Weezer
Day 4- A song that makes me sad. Umm music doesn't really make me sad and I don't really think of the Beatles as being sad, but I'd say Yesterday and Eleanor Rigby.
Day 5- A song that reminds me of someone is AC/DC's Thunderstruck. My brother Alan loves AC/DC and he used to try and play Thunderstruck on his guitar all the time. Great song. Great brother.

Day 3 - A Song That Makes You Happy

Ok, after much thinking and deliberation, I've narrowed it down to two songs.

"My Life Would Suck Without You" - Kelly Clarkson
"Our Song" - Taylor Swift

Both are just happy and make you wanna move.

Love them both.

Day 2 - My Least Favorite Song

The song that immediately jumped into my head was "Desire" by U2.
Our competition team competed to this song my senior year of high school, and I can not even tell you how many times I have listened to this song, over and over and over and over again. Counting the beats, getting the moves down.
Ugh.

Also, I dislike any song by Miley Cyrus.
(except for maybe Party in the USA - it's catchy, don't judge)

Sorry, no music videos for this one :)

Sorry for the 3 blog posts in a day

I'm just sitting here. Poor Kyle is at work. He has been since 3 pm, and will be there until 7 am. I just finished up my final project of the term, yay! The department head over MComm had this great idea to throw us a final project. It was due at midnight tonight - don't worry, I turned it in with 15 minutes to spare. So now I'm just trying to exhaust myself to I can fall asleep without him by my side. (Cheesy, much? It's true though.) Anyway, so now I am officially done with the term. Now I have two weeks before it starts up again. But only TWO SEMESTERS until I graduate. Woah, where does the time go? I'm not that old.

Ayisha came over and visited with me for a little bit tonight. I love her. She's the best friend ever. ALSO, speaking of best friends, I got Dani's first forwarded email yesterday. She is loving the MTC! And I'm just so happy for her. She's the greatest.

That's about all I've got tonight.
We're very happy, and very blessed, and we love each other a lot.

(PS, it's Friday the 13th. Happy Anniversary Nathan and Melanie!!)

Day 1 - My Favorite Song

This is a hard one. I have so many favorite songs. I think I'm going to list my current favorite song. Er, or maybe songs??

I'd have to say, right now... I am loving, well, 5 or 6 songs.

"Just A Dream" - Nelly
"Airplanes" - B.o.B. ft Haley Williams
"Magic" - B.o.B. ft Rivers Cuomo

Just The Way You Are

This is the most darling video I have ever seen. I love this song, and the spin MattyB takes on it is so precious. What a darling little girl.

Once Upon A Time...

This boy and this girl were dating.

They went to watch a movie in the park, but since they got there early, they went on a walk down to the Temple. They walked around the Temple grounds together, and discussed how happy it would make them both if they could go inside together some day.

They went and watched the movie (Ten Little Indians) with the Temple lit up in the background.

That day was exactly a year ago today.

18 days after, they went ring shopping for the first time (which also happened to be the girl's birthday).
2 weeks and 2 days after they went ring shopping, they were engaged, right by the Temple where they had first talked about getting married.

A week less than 8 months after they were engaged, they were married for Time and All Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

And they couldn't be happier.

Happy 3-monthiversary to US!

Today, we've been married for 3 months.
And what a WONDERFUL 3 months is has been.

I'm so incredibly grateful for Kyle, and the fact that we were able to be sealed in the Temple, and to make those covenants, and to know that, if we live up to our covenants,
we will be together FOREVER.

That is a wonderful thing.

I love Kyle.
And my Father in Heaven for giving me this wonderful man, who takes care of me, loves me, and makes me laugh.

Some Thoughts

I'm a little bit scared for lightening and thunder. But, I do enjoy soft rumblings of thunder. I've been enjoying the thunderstorms lately, I'm glad it's not so boiling hot anymore. I also cannot believe that it is August! Where does the time go??!! I only have two more classes, one today, and one on Monday. Crazy. Then I have a little break, during which, we are going to YELLOWSTONE! I am way excited - I've never been! We'll be there over my birthday... Fun!

Also, I've been working on writing my last few papers for this term, and last night, for some reason, our computer turned itself off, and it didn't save the paper I had been working on. So, I'm back to square one. Lame. And my final group presentation for Mcomm is today. It'll feel good to get that over with.

Also, I love my ring.

Kyle has tonight and tomorrow off! Yay! That means I actually get to see and spend time with my husband - not just see him early in the morning, and as we fall asleep. I like that plan. Today was also his first pay day, another thing that we like.

Maybe.... Last night I jammed out to Justin Bieber's "Baby" for a good 20 minutes. And I've been really addicted to orange juice lately, I want it all the time! Also, and this is big news - I AM GOING TO GET MY PERMIT this month. This is the real deal, people. Imma drive us to Yellowstone. Er, partway.

Life is good. And we're happy.

This One Day...

.... I got free Tucanos at work.
.... I talked to my BFF Dani for the last time in a year and a half. I cried.
.... We had FHE with Cabrina and Mike, and had so much fun!
.... I had a paper due tomorrow.
.... It was SHARK WEEK.

.... I was married. And I still am. And I love it.

My New Job

I got a job with Heritage Youth Services. I work at a residential treatment center for youth who are sex offenders. Right now we only have seven boys but the house has room for up to 12. They can be handful but they are typical teenagers trying to figure out who they are. I really like working with them and they like to have someone who enjoys playing sports with them.

I don't get paid a lot, I work some crazy shifts, and I don't have benefits but I am just happy to have a job and do something that will help prepare me for graduate school. I filled out so many applications and I was so tired of looking for a job. I interviewed for the job and we went to the temple that night the next morning I woke up to my phone ringing with my boss offering me the job. I was so excited and it has been great so far.

Now I can focus on taking a couple independent study classes for graduate school prerequisites and other things I have been waiting to do. It is so stressful to not have a job and I am grateful for Britt putting up with me being so bored and moody. Now I just get tired from working but that is a good feeling. 56 hours was a lot last week, but I learned some great things in training and I am very excited for my first paycheck this week!

Little Update: Edit

I realized I left out one thing I did over the week when I posted, and of course there are a few new things to post as well, so here they are.

On Wednesday, we had a girls night. We meaning Ayisha, Missy, Katie, Nancy and myself. We went up to South Fork, made a fire, had a potluck dinner, and made s'mores. It was a lot of fun to catch up with them and their lives. The party ended when we were informed by some park ranger guy that fires are illegal right now. Who knew?

Saturday was my friend Brooke's bridal shower. I've known Brooke since she moved in our sophomore year of high school. Brooke, Kaylie and I all were good friends. I moved away after that year, but stayed more or less in contact with them. Brooke and Kaylie remained best friends. Anyway, that's all sort of besides the point. The point is Brooke is fantastic, and I'm still glad we're friends. She's getting married in two weeks, and I am so excited for her! The shower was so much fun, not to mention all the delicious food we ate!

I got home around 2:30 from the shower, and Kyle returned home from work training about 20 minutes after that. He came home with a dozen red and white roses, and a handwritten note, just because :) Now they're sitting in a vase on our kitchen table. So beautiful.

I have the best and sweetest husband ever. I love him.
Remember how he makes me laugh everyday? It's the best.
