Bloglovin'

With the announcement that Google Reader is discontinuing in a few months, I had been trying to decide what new reader site to use. I finally decided on Bloglovin'. It seems like it's the one going around on most other blogs, and when I tried it out, it was pretty similar to Google Reader, and had a couple other features I liked.

If you're wondering what new reader site to use, try Bloglovin'! Let me know what you think :) And feel free to use the below link to follow my blog. No pressure though.

Because you all want an UPDATE

Kyle was giving me a hard time the other day, saying I hadn't blogged in a long time, and asked me if I was alright. I said I was fine, of course. But it's true, it is definitely time to blog!

So, what have we been up to?

Kyle has been....
studied for and taken his licensure exam
working on a few papers for the end of the term
being really awesome

Britt has been....
spending time at SOH (not this week though)
working one day a week in IF as a consultant
reading a lot of good books (reviews to come, maybe)
cooking more than ever before
watching Gossip Girl
attempting to keep the house clean
spending time with my good friends up here in Poky (Emma, Lyndsey, Shaeli, Kacey, and Kasi, I love them!)
serving with the YW (last Saturday we raked leaves at the cemetery... talk
about a workout)

We have been....
watching Heroes, and we're almost done with all the seaons
spending more time together, since I'm actually home now
applying to jobs over Idaho and Utah
stressing about where we are supposed to go and what we're supposed to
do with our lives

Life is good, although a little crazy right now.
Kyle graduates two weeks from today, and we are so excited!
We're looking forward to seeing some family.
AND don't worry, if anything exciting happens... you know, like a job offer, I'll
blog about it :)

K Turns 27!

I realized I never blogged about Kyle's birthday!

He turned the big 2-7 a couple of weeks ago.
His birthday was on Easter Sunday, so we were able to sleep in, open presents, and go to Church. We also had the missionary's over for dinner, and we had a delicious dinner of ham and funeral potatoes.

I sure am grateful that Kyle was born 27 years ago.
And he sure makes 27 look good!

I love you, K!
Happy Birthday!

....

Last Friday night I got a text that basically stopped me in my tracks.
My best friend's husband had left her.
Cue my shocked and surprised and horrified face.
When she didn't answer her phone (I probably wouldn't have either) I called her mom to check up on her. I also made the decision with Kyle that I would go down there and be with her for a few days. I immediately packed my bags and drove down, and got there around 9:30 at night.

I stayed the next few days with her (I got back yesterday) and I was glad to do it.
She is a wonderful, strong person, and I am so sad this has happened.

I think I enjoyed General Conference this year more than I have any other year. I listened more, I took more notes, and I was really striving to see the messages that were there for me. Also, having just been laid off and being unsure about our future, and having my best friend going through this - I needed Conference in a way I never have before.

So, like I said, I got to spend time with her and her family, which was great.
I also got to go to lunch with my other bestie, Isha, at a fantastic BBQ place in SLC. (R and R barbecue, go there now!)

On another note - I have been contracted by my previous employer to help with some administrative tasks over the next few weeks. That has given me something to do, which I am grateful for.

I also was contacted by a MH clinic in Idaho Falls, and I have been hired on as a billing consultant, and I will be working there one day a week.
When I got the call, I was in my car, and I literally said out loud, "Heavenly Father, you are awesome!"
Because He is, and I'm so grateful for the opportunities and blessings that have already come my (our) way.

Laid Off

Wow, what a crazy couple of days it has been.

Where do I even start?

I went into work yesterday, kind of sad the weekend was over, but ready to hop into work.
By the time I had been at work an hour, I had been told that we might not have jobs after that day.
After cancelling out appointments for the day, we were all sent home.
I thought perhaps it was a mistake, and that things would work out.
I didn't hear anything for the rest of the night.

This morning, I decided to check my email on my home computer before heading into work.
I'm glad I did.
In my email was an email from the CEO of the company, explaining the situation, and letting us know that the company was closing, and that we were all now unemployed.
Laid off.

Neither myself or the company is to blame.
Long story very short: our funding was cut.
We had hardly any notice.

I am still in shock that the company that I worked so hard for, and loved so much, is basically gone. All the clients will transfer services, all my coworkers will start working elsewhere.
The executive team that I love so dearly will work themselves to death as the only employees left of a company that once employed over 100, while they try to contact clients and work to close up shop.

What a crazy, sad, devastating day. Especially for the CEO who worked so hard to make his vision a reality.

I loved my time at SOH. Yes, it was crazy and stressful at times.
 But I loved it.

I went back today to gather things from my office, and to turn in my keys, laptop, etc.
There were hugs all around, and a few tears shed.
This chapter in everyone's lives has closed.

So in the aftermath....
Kyle and I are still deciding what next..?!
We hadn't told many people, but Kyle was in the process of interviewing at SOH for a job there as a clinician. We were happy with what we going to do. We were going to move upstairs, he would get a full time job, we might buy a house.
Now, everything is put on hold.
(Don't put your eggs in one basket, they say. Or in our case, one company.)

Kyle has 6 weeks until graduation.
Do I try to find a job, just to possibly move?
Where does Kyle apply to jobs at?
Do we move out of state? Back to Utah? Stay here?

We have some big changes coming up, and we don't know what they will entail yet.

We know that this will set us on the path we should be on.
We know that things will work out.

It's just getting to the "worked out" part that is tricky... :)
